North East Metro Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect

Take Care During the Holiday Seasons

We will be closed for the holiday period from 3pm, Tuesday 24 December 2024 and re-open at 9am, Thursday 2 January, 2025. If you’re going through a hard time over the holiday season, the Beyond Blue support service is available 24/7 for brief counselling. It’s free and confidential. Call a counsellor on 1300 224 636 or chat to a counsellor online.

We hope everyone enjoys a break from their caring role over the holiday season and we look forward to seeing you again in 2025.

Who we are

North East Metro Connect is a warm and welcoming space for families, carers, supporters and kin of people challenged by mental health and/or alcohol and other drug use.

The establishment of the service, as one of eight “Connect centres” across Victoria, was one of the key recommendations in the Victorian Mental Health Royal Commission.

North East Metro Connect has been co-designed by people with a lived/living experience of being family members and carers of people with mental health and substance use concerns. We work closely with people across the community to ensure families/carers’ needs are understood and supported. You can click and read the Community Engagement and Codesign Report.

Our service is funded by the Department of Health.

Our services

We provide a range of services for Victorian families and carers including:

  • individual peer support
  • family therapy
  • educational sessions and group programs
  • information, resources and practical support for health and wellbeing

All support is free and you do not require a referral. People of all ages can access the Connect services.

It’s important to note that North East Metro Connect is not a crisis service. If you or someone you care for needs immediate emergency assistance, call 000. For 24/7 mental health support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Where we are

North East Metro Connect has sites across the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Click on our interactive map to find out more about our locations and contact information.

AccessHC, along with partners Self Help Addiction Recovery Centre (SHARC)healthAbility, and Inspiro are leading the establishment of the centre in the North East Metro region.

Across the state, the organisations responsible for rolling out each of the eight centres are working closely together, along with Tandem and the Lived Experience Branch of the Department of Health, to develop fantastic programs, tailored to support the needs of families and carers in our communities.
