About this service 

Our Hawthorn doctors are experts in general and family health and wellbeing.  

We have a full range of general practice medical services and can treat most non-hospital medical conditions. We provide a comprehensive range of general practice medical services and can treat the majority of non-hospital medical conditions.

Child and family services

Tailored support and guidance for you and your child aged 0 – 12 to help you address concerns around their emotional, social and physical development.

Services include:

Dental Services 

About this service 

We have an experienced dental team that can help you with the highest quality care. 

You can get priority access to our dental care if you are: 

  • an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person 
  • child under the age of 18 
  • homeless or at the risk of homelessness 
  • pregnant with a healthcare or pension card 
  • a refugee or asylum seeker 
  • registered as a client for mental health and disability services with a recommendation letter from a case manager or staff of a special developmental school. 

Low or no fees may apply for some priority access groups. 

Adults (18 years+ ) must have a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card to access public dental services.

Mental health services 

About this service 

We work with people of all ages, and we can offer services face-to-face or  through telehealth (video or telephone). Our talented mental health team works with people who are seeking help for the first time, and people who have a mental health diagnosis. When you speak with our skilled mental health and AOD intake workers they will help you to find the right program. 

Our mental health services are free. 

How do I make an appointment? 

If you would like to talk to someone about your mental health, you can call our mental health intake team on 9810 3000.   

Our friendly and skilled intake workers will ask you some brief questions to help you find the right support. 

We respond to everyone but if you are unable to get through, please email mentalhealth.intake@accesshc.org.au

Alcohol and other drugs

About this service

Our Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) team works with adults, young people, families, and local community organisations. We’re here to help people who are having problems with substances—including alcohol, other drugs, or prescription/over-the-counter medications. We work with you to achieve your recovery goals, and work to reduce the harms of alcohol, medication, and other drug use. 

This service includes: 

  • individual drug and alcohol counselling 
  • counselling and support for families who are concerned about a loved one’s  substance use 
  • needle and syringe program 
  • peer support and group programs 
  • referrals to residential withdrawal (‘detox’) and rehabilitation (‘rehab’) 
  • Medication Support and Recovery Service (MSRS) – a specialist service for people who use medications, including Nurse Practitioner support, Peer Support, and Counselling. 
  • We welcome and work sensitively with people who have experienced trauma or have mental health concerns

Please call us if you would like to talk to someone about your substance use, or if you’re worried about someone else’s substance use.

Camcare 

About this service 

Camcare is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation. We assist people in our community who are facing personal hardship or difficult life circumstances. This includes material aid and some counselling.

Access to Community – for social connection 

About this service 

If you would like support to explore the new area the Access to Community program can help you. We specialise in finding and connecting people with social activities. 

It works by connecting you with a volunteer Community Connector who is familiar with the local community. There is also the option of becoming become a volunteer Community connector.
