Camcare

Camcare is part of Access Health and Community, a not-for-profit, community-based organisation. We assist people from Boroondara and neighbouring areas who are facing personal hardship or difficult life circumstances.

Camcare offers Community Support services and Family Support services for people who live, work or play in the City of Boroondara, including Ashburton, Auburn, Balwyn, North Balwyn, Camberwell, Deepdene, Glen Iris, Hawthorn, Kew, and Surrey Hills.

Community Support

  • Provide information, referral and advocacy:

Camcare connects community members with practical support and local services. Our trained volunteers provide information about available resources and help link people to services that best meet their needs.

Through our referral services, individuals can access support during financial hardship, including help to negotiate and set up payment plans, and practical assistance to regain stability.

  • Emergency Relief Services for the Boroondara Community:

Camcare provides immediate, practical support for people facing financial hardship or food insecurity, including essential food, fresh produce, and small grants for students.

We also support people to build longer-term stability, strengthening independence, social connections, and community participation.

  • Free Tax Help: Assistance with Your Tax Return

Camcare offers free help with tax returns from July to October for individuals earning under $60,000 per year. This service is available to both Camcare clients and the wider community.

Before your appointment, you’ll need a myGov account linked to the ATO. For full eligibility details, visit the ATO website.

  • BBQs in our Garden Space

Camcare hosts a regular community BBQ on in our Camberwell garden, open to anyone who would like to connect with others over a meal. It’s a simple, welcoming way to meet people and feel part of the community.

Volunteers maintain the garden, and the produce supports our weekly fresh food distribution for people experiencing food insecurity. The garden is a practical way for volunteers to contribute, build skills, and be part of a supportive environment.
