Priority access to dental care
If you are eligible for public dental services, you can receive priority access to our dental care.
The following groups have priority access to care*:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Children (0-17 years) and young people
- Homeless people and people at risk of homelessness
- Pregnant women who are healthcare or pension card holders
- Refugees and asylum seekers
- Registered clients of mental health and disability services, supported by a letter of recommendation from their case manager or staff of special developmental schools.
If you meet the above criteria, please tell the intake team when you call to make an appointment.
* low subsidised or no fees may apply for some priority access groups.
Fees and payments
We offer services for all members of the community. Some of our services prioritise access to people and families with greater health, economic and social needs. We set the costs of our services based on income ranges. These income ranges are based on the Centrelink Income Test for pensioners. See ourĀ current income tables.
Subsidised Schemes:
- Children 0-17 years who are holders or dependents of those with a Health Care or Pension Card do not pay a fee
- Children 0-17 years who are non-card holders pay $37.00 (maximum per family $148.00)
- Adults with a Health Care or Pension Card pay $31.00 per visit for general care for up to 4 visits. (Max $124)
- An emergency appointment costs $31.00 per visit
- Dentures are $74.50 per denture. Full set $149.00.
We also provide bulk billed dental services at no cost to patients aged 0-18 years, who are eligible for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme (must be eligible for Family Tax Benefit A)
Full Fee Costs
We offer a new client special – a comprehensive check-up, two X-rays, scale, clean and fluoride treatment for $185.
Private health rebates are available and claimable on site.

ChildĀ DentalĀ BenefitĀ Schedule
We welcome inquiries about the Government’s Child Dental Benefit Schedule (or CDBS). This is a government initiative providing assistance for basic dental care to promote healthy smiles in children.
Your child may be able to access up to $1,000 of dental services over a 2 year period with no out of pocket expense.Ā The services are simply bulk billed through Medicare.Ā The types of services covered by the schedule include:
- check-ups and cleans
- fissure sealants and fillings
- xrays
- extractions
- root canals.
The schedule does not cover orthodontic or cosmetic dentistry.
Eligibility
Children who are 2-17 years of age who currently receiveĀ Family Tax Benefit AĀ or other relevant Australian Government payments such as Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment Special Benefit, Carer Payment, Double Orphan Pension, Veteran’s Children Education Scheme, if the child is 16 or over Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme (if the child is 16 or over).
Eligible families receive a letter to confirm eligibility from the Commonwealth Department of Human Services (CDBS) in January of each year.

Are after hours and Saturday morning appointments available?
We have limited after hours private dental on a Thursday evening. Saturday mornings are not currently available but we hope to have this service available in the near future.
Do you provide braces, crowns and implants?
Braces and implants are specialist procedures that we cannot provide at Access Health & Community.However, we can arrange referrals to appropriate public and private specialists that can carry out these procedures.
Unfortunately, crowns are not funded through the Community Dental program. Weāre able to provide crowns through our private dental clinic (fees apply).
How long do I have to wait for an appointment?
We prioritise access, to those most vulnerable in the community.
Waiting lists do not apply to the following groups:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
- Homeless people and people at risk of homelessness.
- Refugees and Asylum Seekers.
- Children and young people aged 0-17 years who are health care card or pensioner concession card holders or dependents of concession card holders.
- All children and young people up to 18 years of age, who are in out-of-home care provided by the Children, Youth and Families Division of DHS.
- All youth justice clients up to 18 years of age in custodial care.
- Registered clients of mental health and disability services, supported by a letter of recommendation from their case manager or staff of a special developmental school.
For community dental care
Children 0- 12 years
Priority access, no waiting list. Next available appointment is offered.
Youth 13 ā 17 years
Priority access, no waiting list. Next available appointment is offered.
Adult 18 years+
For emergency care, appointments are offered depending on severity.
General checkup: 16 months
Denture high priority: three months
Denture low priority: 19 months
Private dental care
No waiting lists apply. The next available private dental appointment is offered.
